William McCarthy is a Connecticut artist who has been painting for us for as long as he can remember. For the past 15 years he has been painting atmospheric landscapes inspired by memory and imagination. His paintings are memorable and draw the viewer into an ethereal, spiritual place. The paintings remind us of places we have often seen, but have seldom noticed. Most recently, McCarthy was featured in American Artist magazine.
McCarthy is represented by galleries across the country. His work can be found in public and private collections. He exhibits at shows at various locations throughout the United Stated and has been the recipient of the Best in Show Award in Columbus Arts Festival Columbus, Ohio, First place for painting at the Armonk Art Festival Armonk, NY and First Place for Painting at the Fine Furnishings Show in Providence, RI.
McCarthy was selected to be a visiting artist of the prestigious Weir Farm located in Wilton, CT. Also in Connecticut, Mr. McCarthy has worked as guest artist for the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk. In addition, he is a grant recipient for the Connecticut Commission of the Arts.
McCarthy paints from his home studio, which he shares with his wife, their daughter and their two dogs.
